As we are in the power distribution sector, customer satisfaction occupies a significant place, for providing uninterrupted and quality supply through improving system network besides metering and billing and facilities for bill payments. Several initiatives have been introduced in this direction such as setting up of capacity enhancement of power transformers wherever required to improve voltages, laying of UG and AB cable for minimal interruptions and to avoid accidents, Integrated Customer Service Centers, improved second level call centers and online bill payment facilities. It is all the more important that our mindset has to be tuned towards integration of these initiatives for the benefit of the consumers.
The water levels in Srisailam and Nagarjunsagar reservoirs have increased due to recent rains stepping up the Hydel power generation and as a result the power situation has eased. Presently, the unrestricted peak demand in touching about 5620 MW while the maximum demand recorded during this season was 5549 MW on 12th August 2011. In case of any shortfall, arrangements are also being made to purchase power through power exchanges on short term basis. In this connection, all our Operation Circles have to plan ahead for ensuring 7 hours quality supply during Kharif season.
During last four months of the financial year, the performance of the Company is commendable, when compared to the previous year with an Input of 12029 MU, total sales of 10299 MU and total revenue demand of Rs.3444 Crores, achieving the Specific Revenue with respect to input at Rs.2.86 per unit. The Operation Circles that have contributed to this achievement are Ranga Reddy North, Hyderabad Central and Hyderabad North Circles in the first three places. I hope other circles will also work hard to reach these Circles by improving their performance.
While appreciable efforts are being made in the direction of technical and commercial loss reduction, through bifurcation of loads, replacing of conductor with higher cross section, HVDS, network configuration sealing of services, providing AB cable and attending to exceptional, the company could reduce losses from 17.10% to 14.17%. However, all Operation Circles should give emphasis to further reduce the energy losses to a considerable extent through intensive inspections by DPE and Operation personnel on pilferage/theft of power.
Further, high rate of failures of Power and Distribution Transformers is a matter of concern for us, as it is hampering the customer service. For reducing the failures on PTRs in particular, periodical maintenance of 11 kV and LT Lines should be carried out. All the SEs/DEs should take immediate steps to instruct the O&M Staff to check the transformers periodically and take up immediate maintenance through SPM Sheds. Augmentation of overloaded DTRs have to be taken up to reduce voltage problems and interruptions. All Subdivisions should also keep the required number of DTRs under Rolling stock to replace the failed transformers within the stipulated time of 48 hours in rural areas and 24 hours in cities and towns, as per standards of performance.
I hope every one of you will ponder over on the above issue for immediate action and fulfilling them with hard work and commitment thereby improving the services to our consumers through quality supply.
